The investigation conducted by Hebei Provincial Environmental Protection Institute involves 6 popular brands and 7 models of air purifiers in the market. In addition to the randomly attached filter, the manufacturer also purchased official replacement filters and third-party adaptive filters from 3 well-known domestic e-commerce platforms with high sales rankings, totaling 34 batches of products.
According to Xiao Jun from the Environmental Product Inspection Department of Hebei Provincial Environmental Protection Institute, this survey was conducted in accordance with the national standard for air purifiers. The clean air volume of particulate matter and formaldehyde (nominal with this function) in the air purifier after replacing the filter screen was tested and analyzed. These two indicators directly reflect the purification capacity of the air purifier for particulate matter or formaldehyde per unit time, and are the main indicators that characterize its performance.
The test data shows that the official filter product of the air purifier manufacturer can meet the nominal requirements of the air purifier in both indicators. The third-party adaptive filter for particulate matter can meet the standard requirements for clean air volume, but its formaldehyde purification performance is relatively poor. Among the 20 batches of products with formaldehyde purification function, 17 batches of products cannot meet the nominal requirements of air purifiers, with a failure rate of up to 85%; There is a batch of products with a formaldehyde clean air volume of 3.7m3/h, which only reaches 2.5% of the nominal value of 150m3/h, and basically does not have formaldehyde purification function.
Xiao Jun mentioned that during the testing process, it was found that the thickness and quality of the third-party adaptive filter were different from those of the original product, and the filtering resistance was not the same, resulting in differences in air flow rate during use compared to the original filter, and significant instability in formaldehyde purification performance.
It is reported that the price difference of filter screens mainly depends on raw materials and production processes. Most low-priced filters adopt a layered structure with relatively simple production processes, while composite filter screens have relatively complex production processes with better purification effects and relatively higher prices. However, the higher the price, the better the performance of the filter. What is important is that it can be matched with the purifier. The original filter is certainly good, but the price is relatively high. If we divide the high and low grades by 500 yuan, the current sales volume in the market is about half each, and there is no significant difference in sales volume between different grades of products.
The Hebei Provincial Environmental Protection Institute suggests that consumers can refer to testing data, choose filters reasonably based on their own living environment, usage objects, and other different purposes, and comprehensively consider factors such as price and purification effect to avoid spending money but not achieving the expected effect or paying for unnecessary functions.
